ICCR visiting professor has started at Uppsala University


Prof Siddharth Singh, Head of the Dept. for Pali and Buddhist Studies at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), has started his period as ICCR visiting professor in Uppsala. He will stay about six months in Sweden. He is affiliated to the Dept. for Linguistics and Philology during his stay.

Prof Singh is the first in a planned row of four consecutive ICCR guest professors in Uppsala according to a contract between the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Uppsala University, signed by Banashri Harrison Bose, Indian Ambassador in Sweden and Latvia, and Eva Åkesson, Rektor of Uppsala University.

Prof Singh is planning a public ICCR lecture on "Indian Studies in India and abroad: Challenges and Prospects" later this autumnal term. The exact date and time will be announced separately.
